Student Life

Along with their academic curriculum, A. Fantis students are able to enjoy a variety of additional activities.

In the Middle School, students take part in several external competitions and festivals, to include: the Daily News Spelling Bee, the National Geographic Bee, the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York Essay Writing Competition, the John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival, and the Science Olympiad.

There are also various clubs and teams which the students can join: Chess, Greek Cultural Arts, Latin, Science, Environmental, Literary & Art, Debate, and Math.

After-school activities currently include Greek Dance, Fencing, and Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Teams.

There is a student newsletter, The A. Fantis Parochial School Chronicles. The newsletter appears three times a year, and is written and edited by our Middle School students. A past edition can be read by clicking here.

The school has a Student Council. Each year, officers are elected to represent each class. From this body, the Consultative Council is elected. This Council works alongside the Principal, reviewing issues affecting the student body and how to spend the monies from the Student Organization Store. Once a year, the President of the Council switches roles with the Principal on “Principal for a Day.”

In addition to the Student Council representatives, there are also Student Leaders, as chosen by the Principal. The Student Leaders are those students who demonstrate outstanding leadership in the school. They play a central role in Open Houses, introducing their school to prospective parents.
