Middle School: 4-8
Studying a curriculum developed in alignment with New York State Education Department standards, Grades 4-8 take the New York State Examinations in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science, along with Social Studies examinations from Grade 5 onwards. Many of our students receive grades that indicate Mastery or Mastery with Distinction.
Eighth graders also have the opportunity to take three Regents examinations, in Integrated Algebra, Earth Science, and Foreign Language (Greek), allowing them to earn credits for high-school graduation.
In 2011, once again our students achieved a 100% pass rate in their Regents examinations. In addition, there was a 100% pass rate in Foreign Language Regents.
Graduates go on to attend, amongst other schools, prestigious parochial high schools, specialized high schools (to include Brooklyn Technical High School, Staten Island Technical High School, and Stuyvesant High School), and the Honor Academies of other public high schools.
From Grade 5 upwards, the curriculum is taught by specialist teachers.
For an introductory outline of the curricula studied, please see the subject-matter pages in this section.
More detailed curricula for each grade are available directly from the school.
